9. Grand Theft Aqua

Those gorgeous spurts of water jetting behind us should cleanse our soul of any criminal guilt. GTA V's original ocean was impressive, with 3D swells that could catch sunny accents and light up sea-foam green. The animating textures were slightly muddled and mixed in an artful way that maintained the general look of life-like water, but the image above seems to achieve the same... without the compromise. The tiny flicks and dips in the ocean's surface trail off with much less depreciation over a long distance. Michael seems to be enjoying the draw-distance as well, but he and those helicopter cops all know that you don't get a boat like that in San Andreas without...

8. Robbing The Vangelico Jewelry Store

That poor store never had a chance. Shattering the glass on those jewelry cases is gonna look sweet on modern hardware, and clearly, so is the motorcycle escape sequence. We're noticing a lot of ambient lens-flare and hope it doesn't reach a J.J. Abrams-level of distracting us from what's happening. Here, it feels cinematic, voyeuristic, and stylish all at once, and we love it. It's also worth taking note of the light shaft blasting down from the sewer opening, the metal rungs broken near the bottom and all of them catching a piece of daylight. The dumpy mud being kicked up by our wheels looks just right. Motorcycle escapes are all well and good, but getting away always means a lot when...

7. You Ride Together

Snapping between GTA V's three main protagonists will almost certainly be faster this time around. In the original game, when we had them in close proximity, alternating was instantaneous, but long-distance swaps slowed to a blatant, map-loading crawl. Really, it's a little messed up to fault an industry innovation for slightly bogging down the most ingeniously disguised loading times ever. Still, if our PS4s, Xbox Ones and high-end PCs can streamline anything, this would be biggie. Imagine swapping from Michael's couch to Franklin racing to Trevor puking in a fountain--in an actual flash. We love the kitschy, Google Earth-esque snap-zooms, but the Los Santos skyline is best seen from...
