GTA IV was a good game, it had many entertaining aspects that worked well on the Xbox 360 and PS3. That said, it was more serious in tone, something which just didn't sit well with many long time fans of the Grand Theft Auto series. Niko Bellic's tale was quite intense, more at home with social commentary than wacky exploits. Then, there was Trevor Philips. To many, Trevor represented the inner-demon in all players who turn on a GTA game. In V, he was the rampaging lunatic to Michael's more measured approach and Franklin's 'how the heck did I get here?' mannerisms. As aforementioned, they all mixed well, creating a well-rounded experience that catered to every kind of player. Not a fan of Franklin? Use Michael or Trevor, and vice versa. One thing that's for sure, VI needs to continue Rockstar's long-held tradition of creating utterly bonkers characters. It's just something they do better than most other developers. When they tried to tone it down in IV, it turned some people off. That can't happen in VI, fans of the franchise love those crazy, over-the-top personas that pin down the narrative. Even the side characters are important.
