GTA VI: 10 Mission Types That Need To Die

10. 'Defend This Area'

In 'Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas', the endless struggle between the area's three rivalling gangs made for some of the most entertaining and compelling moments of the game's story. CJ's redemption and struggle against turncoat allies offered up some of the series' most emotionally affecting scenes. What was not so effective, however, was a particular mission type that this aspect of the game relied heavily on. Not exclusively employed in this title, GTA's area defending missions are among the more frustrating from the game's time. Forcing players to patrol one small area while wave upon wave of enemy character attempts to overrun you fits fairly well into the San Andreas' gang warfare, but their appeal is short-lived. The game becomes barely more than a third person 'Call of Duty' clone during these missions, and they are often far too long for any possible entertainment value to remain. They are frustrating, boring and one-dimensional. Rockstar could certainly stand to lose them with their next instalment.
