Guild Wars 2: 10 Reasons to Be Excited

9. Skills, Skills, Skills! Guild Wars 2 has a LOT of skills! Each profession (class) has its own skills attached to each of the weapons and off-hand items that they can equip, and profession differs from profession - even when we're talking about the same weapon. Some of the professions (Elementalist and Engineer) even have ways of multiplying the number of weapon skills available (the Elementalist, for example, has five skills associated with a dual-dagger-wielding setup while attuned to fire magic, but then another five when attuned to water, another five when attuned to air, and another five when attuned to earth!). Each of the professions also has a multitude of healing skills and a plethora of utility skills to choose from. Add to that the profession-specific elite skills that get unlocked at level 30 and you start to have a LOT of choices available to you! On top of all of those, however, there are also racial utility and racial elite skills (more on those in a minute). But that's not all! Every single object that you pick up in the game and every single vehicle or weapon-emplacement you man also gives you some new skills to play with! You might meet a guy in the charr starting area who has developed a ghost-busting weapon, and he wants you to try it out. Now you have five new skills to play around with! If a certain lizard vomits on you, you will turn into a pig with - you guessed it! - five new skills to oink around with! You might even snatch an egg out of a birds nest only to find that you can now drink the contents of the egg to get a health boost, or else throw it at someone else as an insult! And what makes all of this extra cool is that each skill gets its own little stylish painted icon.
