Half Life 3: 10 Reasons It Must Be Made Now

10. The Final Chapter

I don€™t know about you, but HL2: Episode 2€™s heart-wrenching conclusion left me with a bruise on my chin from where my jaw hit the ground. Half Life€™s singular story arc is probably one of the finest ever told in gaming to date. For that reason, we€™re not just returning to the HL world for more carnage and action (although that we are too), we€™re returning to discover the fates of these characters who over time, we€™ve grown to genuinely care for. Mass Effect may have also done this well, but Half Life did it first and did it better. The fact is Half Life 3 represents the final chapter in this epic, time and dimension spanning saga, which in itself is a dizzying prospect. What the hell is going to happen? How can things possibly get any worse for Gordon and Alyx, hell, for the entire human race? And conversely, how can it then be rectified to the point where, as is tradition in story-telling for a final chapter, everything is back to normal, or at least rectified to the point that Gordon has saved the day? I have literally no idea. But I€™ll tell you one thing. I€™m itchin€™ to find out. That's just one gleaming reason why Half Life 3 cannot come a moment too soon.
