Half-Life: Every Game Ranked Worst To Best
8. Half-Life: Source
Getting stuck into developing Half-Life 2 in the early 2000s, Valve saw fit to convert their original classic to their newly made Source engine in June 2004.
Taking advantage of vertex and pixel shaders to add extra detail alongside additional physics, Half-Life: Source seemed like a good idea at first. The final result was less than impressive, even if the game's core remained intact.
It also trimmed many features enjoyed by the community including mod support, while also making use of the same textures that went into the original release. It was also disappointing that none of the expansion packs were included in the package, leaving them out to dry as the sequel neared completion.
Half-Life: Source could be enjoyed by a section of the fanbase with a sense of humour. But despite claiming to offer the same ground-breaking experience as the original title, it's definitely the weakest version of the bunch. It's very lacking in polish and riddled with bugs from glitchy item placement and janky sound effects.
You're better off sticking with the original game running on the GoldSrce engine, or even better, a modern remake that reached completion this year. We'll get to that further down the list.
