Halo 4: Where it Will Succeed and Where It Will Fail

Halo 4 is one of this year's most anticipated titles. The true sequel to Halo 3, the "finale " to what is considered the greatest console shooter series of all time. Halo 4 promises to expand upon the series lore and provide a new trilogy for our hero, John-117 and his sexy cyborg sidekick Cortana. It also aims to be the new game for all Halo fans to play online on launch day, being given a massive new mode and set of accessories and console to go with it. But what if Halo 4 doesn't quite live up to the hype? What if it's freaking amazing? It could go either way, and because of that, I'm here to go over where the game could blow us away or make us want to blow our heads off.

Where It Will Succeed...

4. Intriguing New Story

Halo 4's plot revolves around a new race, the Prometheans. The Prometheans are an army of the Forerunners, the supposed creator of the Halo rings. Halo 4's plot is said to use mystery elements and be a more darker and creepier tone than Halo games before it. It seems like a solid idea, make a new Halo trilogy that feels different, but with plot elements and gameplay ideas that are more traditional. Having new enemies doesn't mean that the Covenant won't still show up, though. They're still in the picture, and still very much an enemy of the UNSC military. The dual plot line, along with the idea of Chief and Cortana being stranded, AND Cortana's slow death beginning in Halo 3 makes for a very full plot. Here's hoping it contains the same scope and emotion of Reach and 3. The best part about the story is that they tried a different plot line. They haven't found some convenient excuse to reignite the Covenant war. This is no last minute clean up. Although certain plot lines and characters will return, the Chief mostly has a clean slate for this installment, and the eventual Halo 5&6. I hate it when a new developer comes in and ruins something that another made great, like Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier. Let's never speak of that "game" again.

I live in Australia, love to write and play games. So what better than writing about games? I love all things action and fantasy, as well as my occasional shooter. I literally cannot wait for GTAV!
