Halo: Master Chief Collection - 10 Issues 343 STILL Need To Fix

4. Dealing With Quitters

Quitters are a problem in every single multiplayer game out there, and no developer has ever really been able to find a foolproof solution. Halo games, like many other online shooters, have regularly enforced bans and suspensions for people who quit too often and the ability for players to boot other individuals out of a match for unsporting behaviour.

However, it feels like much more could be done in this area. Far too often, players are quitting out of games right at the start just because they don't happen to like the map or mode, and some games are actually starting with uneven teams, putting innocent players at an undeserved disadvantage.

When one player quits, it's logical to say that their teammates don't deserve to be tarred with the same brush and receive the same punishment. Unfortunately, long-time Halo players know only too well that trying to win a 3 vs 4, especially in an objective gametype, is almost impossible. So many players end up losing and getting de-ranked just because of the careless actions of others.

Games like Overwatch have introduced systems to automatically cancel games with early quitters, while also allowing other players to leave without suffering a ranking penalty if someone else quits on their team. These features would be welcomed by the Halo community and make the MCC far less frustrating.
