The Hitman series has been around for two decades, now and has seen a number of releases. Some are classics, whereas others are probably best forgotten. After the pretty naff Absolution, the rebooted series has seen a surge in popularity.

With the next game in the series, Hitman 3, scheduled for release in January 2021 the series looks to be continuing its successful re-launch.

If you asked fans of the Hitman series what they like best about it, they would give a multitude of answers - the protagonist, story, and stealth elements would all be good choices, but there is one factor that makes or breaks a Hitman game - the levels.

Good or bad, these are what the players remember most.

Classic examples of favourite Hitman levels include hotels, small Italian towns, and friendly neighbourhoods. There are however a number of different locations that a new Hitman game could use, ones that have yet to be seen in these games.

With new technology allowing games to make larger and more complex maps, there is little reason any of these examples couldn’t be in Hitman 3.

10. Airport

You would think that a game about international assassins would have featured one of these already, but strangely not. Ok, there have been military bases with airstrips but we can hardly count that. The hustle and bustle of an international airport would be the perfect setting for a new and complex hitman level.

Any number of individuals come through airports on a daily basis. Tourists, businessmen, and notorious criminals all have to travel the same way after all. The idea of an airport also allows for a challenging element in this map, metal detectors, frisk searches, and highly trained security would all present a challenge for Agent 47.

They also present a large number of chances for stealth, social, or otherwise. Disguises could include baggage handlers, security, or even a pilot. As for secret entrances, well take your pick. Baggage carousels, underground passages, and the wheel wells of planes could all be used by an enterprising hitman.

The addition of an Airport level is long overdue in the Hitman series. We can but wait to see if it is included in Hitman 3.
