Horizon Forbidden West: 10 Confirmed Details You NEED To Know
1. Location
As we have already pointed out, the game world seems to span from the coastline of the Pacific Ocean in San Francisco to Utah.
From the trailer, we see quite a few noticeable landmarks such as the San Francisco Ferry Building, an overgrown Transatlantic Pyramid, a rundown Golden Gate bridge, and what looks to be the peak of El Capitan in the Yosemite National Park. This means that we can be sure to see lots of familiar and iconic locations spread across the world.
There is also a vast desert area which we expect to be Las Vegas or parts of Nevada. It makes the most sense geographically, although we never know how much the world of Horizon Forbidden West has changed since the events of Zero Dawn a thousand years ago.
The devs over at Guerilla Games also make world depth a large part of their worlds. In the last game, we often got to delve deep underground to uncover ancient ruins, and we imagine it will be the same for Forbidden West. As water plays such a significant role in the new game, we are excited to start exploring the submerged ruins of San Francisco.
