How Capcom Should Remake Resident Evil 4
8. The Amazing Introduction Needs To Stay
Before we jump into the major changes and alterations Capcom should consider, I want to make one thing clear: Resident Evil 4 might not be perfect, but its opening is. The initial crawl from the opening cinematic reintroducing Leon S. Kennedy right up to the assault in the first town is the survival horror genre firing on cylinders.
Though it arguably has more action during this introductory set-piece than the previous Resident Evils had across their entire runs, it never betrays its horror roots, ramping up the intensity from two Ganados to a whole town laying siege without you even noticing.
As a piece of scene setting and example of intent, it continues to wow 15 years on. This playing out beat for beat, with the advancements in graphical technology courtesy of the stunning RE Engine, would be the perfect way to open the game. After all, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
