Infamous: Second Son - 7 Reasons It's Sadly Not A System Seller

3. Where Are The Side Activities?

It has already been mentioned that Seattle feels rather empty and this is highlighted all the more by the fact that there is barely anything to do outside of the main campaign. The side missions that are included can mostly be completed within about 30 seconds each and get extremely repetitive considering there are about 4/5 different types of missions. The main side activity Sucker Punch seems to want players to do is to fully clear enemy force the DUP out of Seattle by attacking their bases and towers in different parts of the cities Assassin's Creed-style. However with the lack of enemy variety doing so can get extremely tedious. Such an oversight is all the more bizarre considering how previous titles in the series were filled to the brim with optional activities such as races, side missions and collectibles. Such an oversight could have easily been fixed very simply if the developers has included the tools with inFAMOUS 2 that allowed players to create their own levels; an addition that added an insane amount of variety and replay ability through user generated content. One of the reasons some people love open world games is because of that desire to collect every single collectible and do every side activity. Take Assassins Creed: Black Flag as an example of a game with a tremendous amount of side adventures and activities for you to complete. In comparison Second Son just feels empty which is all the more surprising considering it€™s made purely for next gen hardware, which we'd have hoped would have provided developers with the tools to include more content in a game.
