Injustice 2: 8 Leaks & Confirmed Details You Need To Know
3. Online Matchmaking Is Promising
Matchmaking is the heart and soul of fighting games, so if the net code doesn't work it'll drag the entire game down. Netherrealm have run into issues in the past with this. Mortal Kombat X required an entire codebase overhaul for the game to get some decently running connectivity. Luckily, Injustice 2 has taken all of the lessons from MKX in stride, running a beta to iron the kinks.
Injustice 2 uses the Good Game, Peace Out (GGPO) open-source online codebase, a network connectivity middleware built for playing arcade and fighting games specifically.
It utilizes a combination of input lag and predictive inputs to simulate the opponent's moves with minimal lag- and if it detects a wrong input, rolls the game back a few frames to revise based on this variation. In a best case scenario, this is all entirely imperceptible.
Online players will also have a wealth of options to choose from to perfect their online experience, such as the ability for a "Competitive mode" that locks out the Gear system entirely, and a handicap feature that levels Geared characters to roughly equal strength.
