Injustice 3: 10 Things We Want To See
3. Revamped Trait Mechanic
The trait mechanic in Injustice is one of its more unique features. With the press of either O or B (4 if you're into fighting game lingo) the player's character will activate a move that is distinct to them.
Batman, for instance calls down mechanical bats that can act offensively or defensively, while Scarecrow creates an aura around him that damages the opponent.
Some of these traits are fantastic and utilize the character's specific ability set. A good example would be Black Canary's, in which she lets out one of her trademark screams and send the opponent flying for a follow up combo.
However, this is an outlier. Most of the traits are fairly standard and some are even just re-skins. It doesn't get more basic and boring than Superman's, which is just a damage boost. How is that even unique to the character?
For Injustice 3, NetherRealm should focus on making each trait unique to what the character can do. Scarecrow can manipulate reality with his fear toxin, so allow him to manipulate what the opponent can see, shifting the character models into something nightmarish.
Superman is the Man of Steel, have his trait reflect this, and so on.
