Insomniac's Spider-Man 2: 5 Obscure Villains That Must Appear

1. The Jackal

Infamous for sparking the controversial Clone Saga story arc in the nineties, Miles Warren fell in love with Gwen Stacy during his tenure working as a college Biochemistry professor (where, as seen in one of Spider-Man’s collectible backpacks, he actually taught Peter, even grading his College thesis).

After Gwen’s death at the hands of the Green Goblin, Warren’s grief overwhelms him, which eventually leads to a split personality disorder and a burning hatred for Spider-Man, who he holds responsible for the death of the woman he loved.

One of the biggest problems with introducing The Jackal into Insomniac’s Spidey universe is that neither the Green Goblin or the Death of Gwen Stacy seem to be a part of this Peter’s life (at least, not yet), but Insomniac don’t seem to be afraid of taking creative liberties with characters and origin stories for the sake of story. A Jackal fuelled by, say, a love for Mary Jane Watson, may lead to a far more personal, emotionally charged foe for future sequels - one whose schemes extend far beyond Spider-Man and into the mind, relationships and very DNA of Peter Parker…
