Last Of Us 2: 25 Easter Eggs, Details & References You Need To See
3. The Wooden Pallet In The Water
The museum section is one of the most memorable in the Last of Us Part 2. It offers some truly bittersweet moments between Ellie and Joel, but one of them you can miss entirely if you're not careful.
While swimming around (about halfway through the museum, after jumping off a ledge), Ellie can find an old wooden pallet by the side of the pool. Fans of the first game will instantly realise why this is important: in the original game, Ellie couldn't swim, and whenever there was water, Joel would have to push her around on a conveniently-available wooden pallet instead.
If you swim up to the pallet, Ellie will say: 'Joel! Look! Wanna give me a ride?'
This will then prompt Joel to reply with: 'Those days are long gone, kiddo.'
It's a really awesome nod to the first game here, but honestly, thank god that Ellie learned to swim in this one. Good old Joel - he did say in the first game he'd teach her how to swim.
