With the PlayStation 5 on the way next year, it appears as if the design patents for Sony’s new gaming system have been leaked out.

Patented in Brazil just last week, the PlayStation 5 has been designed by Sony Technical Director Yusuhiro Ootori. Now, LetsGoDigital have gotten hold of design patents for an unconfirmed electronic device that could well be the PS5.

The outlet adds that Sony has labelled the device as a Class 14.02 patent which means that the device includes data processing and peripheral equipment. Interestingly, the PlayStation 4 was also registered under the same Class 14.02.

It’s well known that Sony rarely patents designs that it doesn’t have plans to move forward with, and all indicators continue to suggest that this is indeed the PlayStation 5 designs that we’re looking at.

From the design concepts seen here, there are plentiful vents and grilles seen – which could be key in overcoming some of the overheating problems some PS4 users have had with Sony’s current console.

A leaked email suggests that the PlayStation 5 may be launched as early as February next year, although Sony has yet to publicly confirm any concrete launch date for the console.
