LEGO Dimensions Year 2: 8 Things We Learned About Sonic, Harry Potter, Adventure Time & More

2. The Odd New Additions Are Actually Great

Having The Lord Of The Rings, Batman, Jurassic World, Scooby Doo et al appear in Dimensions all pretty much fit into the wider Lego brand, but some of the additions for Year Two are frankly perplexing.

Mission: Impossible, Beetlejuice, Knightrider, The Goonies, The A-Team are out-there picks, presumably there to increase appeal to Gen X players, but still don’t feel like they’d fit with the brand.

And then you play as them. We didn’t have all of the Year Two figures on hand, but the ones we did – Mission: Imposible, Gremlins – were unexpectedly great fun to play with. Ethan Hunt was especially cool, with a wide-range of spy gear that played apart across the different levels, a mighty effective gun and a run that gloriously pokes fun at Tom Cruise’s penchant for a good jog.
