Lost Planet 3: First Stunning Screenshots Have Arrived

Screenshots and details for Capcom's upcoming Lost Planet 3 have been released.

New screenshots have emerged from the frozen wastes, and Lost Planet 3 is shaping up to be the best looking of the series yet. The shots, as seen below, feature spectacular lighting, a rather beardy protagonist type, as well as the ever so classic icy Lost Planet look. As seen over at CVG, the game itself is somewhat of an open world prequel that will be focusing more on a strong narrative, rather than the heavy online co-op feel of Lost Planet 2. Producer Andrew Szymanski explains the game as having a system where €˜areas in the world have branching paths€™, where you can go depends on whether you have the right equipment or not. There will also be plenty of NPC€™s with side quests, you will be able to upgrade your gear, and you will also be able to construct your own mech Rigs using parts unlocked in the campaign. This doesn€™t mean the loss of multiplayer entirely; Szymanski has confirmed that it will exist, but that they€™re not giving away the details just yet. The screens speak for themselves for the progress made in the franchise, the game looks much nicer than its predecessor (which is to be expected really), but also the gameplay changes that have been detailed will hopefully work well with the setting. Personally I can see it working well, and hope that adding a stronger narrative as well as having a multiplayer element will extend the game beyond the problem LP2 had of being the same co-op missions over and over again. So, what do you think of the screenshots, and are you looking forward to the next instalment to the franchise?
