Many people will pick a coach they admire or the coach of the team they support, and it's easy to see why fans would do that, but picking a coach is the groundwork for everything you're about to do. Forget sentimentality or reputations, choose the coach that suits your style. Just because a flashy name like Pete Carroll, John Harbaugh or the generic 'NE Coach' who stands in for the reluctant Bill Belichick flashes up, it doesn't mean you have to select them. Look for the coach who's style suits the one you're trying to adopt. If you're usually a rushing player, Chip Kelly's your target. If you're a defensive-minded operator, aim for Rex Ryan, but don't be too hung up on the name. Just look at the style and playbook, don't skip or underestimate the importance of a suitable coach.
