Madden 20: 8 Things We Already Know

2. College Ball Is In

Longshot is a thing of the past. Say hello to 'Face Of The Franchise', a game mode that could be the closest thing college football fans see to the old NCAA Football series (which EA stopped developing in 2013 after releasing NCAA Football 14) on modern consoles.

You'll start out by creating your own QB before choosing from 10 different college clubs, impressing at the NFL Combine, entering the NFL Draft and ultimately becoming a Super Bowl champion. That's the plan anyway, but we hope EA have something in mind should players hit stumbling blocks along the way; this rags-to-riches story will only have depth if it's not a strictly linear path like Longshot was.

There must be more customisation. In that sense then, the 'Create-A-Quarterback' start sounds promising.

If nothing else, it's nice that EA are acknowledging college football again after years of pretending it doesn't exist. The college game is the grassroots of the sport, and some fans even prefer it to the NFL. Seeing it make a comeback should put a smile on some faces.
