Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: 10 Things It Must Include
2. Couch Co-Op
Oh couch co-op, you were the staple of video games everywhere once upon a time.
Of course, that all shifted once companies realised that subtly hinting players should buy their own system (and their own online subscription at that), with the steady erasure of the feature, was far more financially conducive to their end of year profits. Still, Ultimate Alliance persisted with its insistence on local co-op, giving players the opportunity to join up to four buddies whenever and wherever possible; which, when it came to Ultimate Alliance, pretty much meant all of the time.
Though the series made its name on promising an authentic, Marvel experience to be played with your mates at home, the prospect of local co-op in 2016 isn't as likely as it was back then. Equally unlikely, I suppose, would be a studio's willing desire to alienate players whose admiration for the series today stems, primarily, from nostalgia - itself partially inspired by memories of couch-bound escapades in the Marvel Universe. It would be undeniably ludicrous to omit such a feature in a new reboot or sequel, but don't be surprised if industry trends stipulate its absence.
