In spite of the criticism, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is sporting some solid combat and seems to have a wealth of potential. The strength of the gameplay alone will be enough to hook more than its fare share of players.

Remember also that, so far, we've only gotten our hands on snippets of the action. Perhaps in their complete form, the parts come together to create a more satisfying whole?

Furthermore, the game is still a few months from release, giving Capcom time to take the negative press to heart and improve on some of MvCI's perceived weaknesses.

They could touch up the animations and character models. They could secure a stable online environment for multiplayer modes. They could do everything they need to do to turn this entry into the one that fans have been patiently waiting for.

Here's hoping Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite lives up to expectations.
