Mass Effect 4: 10 Core Gameplay Tweaks That Would Improve Everything

1. No Turret/Action-Heavy Sequences

Hopefully Bioware know what they've got with Mass Effect going forward, and what the series means to long-time fans. Nobody is playing ME purely for action-heavy spectacle or the combat itself, instead the heart of Mass Effect has always pulsated to the rhythm of incredibly well-written characters and an entire galaxy's worth of space sociopolitical interactions to get stuck into. Mass Effect 2 had just the right balance of plot development and action, something that the likes of being stuck in a groan-worthy turret sequence on Palaven or the dodging of a Reaper's beam near the close of ME3, uttered more responses of "What the hell is this?" as oppose to any remotely air-punching. Saying no to all prolonged action-heavy sequences may be too much, as it's not like big set-pieces should be ruled out if the situation calls for it. But when you consider the battle you had with Saren at the close of ME1 - one that if your Paragon score was high enough you could talk him out of, for a time anyway - versus ME2's giant Reaper-baby blast-a-thon, it's clear that firefights fuelled by motive and plot are far more memorable and affecting in the long run. What specific tweaks do you want to see implemented or changed up? Let us know in the comments!
