Mass Effect 4: 10 Core Gameplay Tweaks That Would Improve Everything

10. Numbered Visualisation Of Damage

Something Mass Effect has dabbled sightly with but never made a core component of gameplay is never really thinking about how much damage you're doing, or which special ability will work well against specific enemies. Instead it's all too easy to blast the holy hell out of everything, ducking behind cover and waiting for your shields to recharge in between. Sure you've got plenty of shield-bursting powers you'll deploy at the right time, and you're told certain powers or ammo types work well against synthetics or organics, but in terms of planning your moves out and noting exactly how much damage you're doing, it's an RPG staple that's sorely missed. Outside of menus, a Destiny/Borderlands-style visual indicator (that can be toggled off for those who don't like this sort of thing) displaying numerical values would be perfect, as although it might not sound like a worthwhile inclusion, seeing your pithy one-digit pistol change into the quadruples as you bust out a modified laser-rifle is perfect kind of progression this sort of RPG desperately needs.
