Mass Effect 4: 10 Essential Non-Game Characters Who Must Appear

1. Jack Harper (The Illusive Man)

Yes okay, he was in the game, but only as his megalomaniacal later-self, and not the origin-telling Jack Harper who went from civilian through to Cerberus-commanding mercenary all thanks to the mankind's interaction with other alien races. For this to work there'd have to be some section devoted to humanity's time during the First Contact War, which already fans are clamouring to see more of as it's an integral part of the fiction - yet with events like this in grandiose over-arching fiction, it can sometimes be better to leave that up to everyone's imagination. Still, Harper's transformative tale is a great one that anchors the 'dark side' of the universe, and as plenty peoples' reasons for stating the first Mass Effect was their favourite was purely down to all the conversations around race-relations and mankind's place in the galaxy, tapping back into that thread with a character-based narrative boost from 2 and 3 could be the perfect way to tie it all together.
