Mass Effect 4: 10 Things That Will Kill The Franchise

9. DLC, DLC, DLC

BiowareBiowareThe Mass Effect games' downloadable content has ranged from incredible to underwhelming. A fantastic example of DLC is Mass Effect 2's Lair of the Shadow Broker, which provided an entertaining story, fascinating lore, and unique gameplay elements. However, too much DLC can often prove be a drain on the investment in the game, as well as your wallet. Sometimes, it's nice to be able to purchase a game, play through a lengthy, inclusive story, and be done with it. When DLC is being thrust into the player's face at every turn (even worse if it's immediately after release), then it can feel like an incomplete product. Gaming audiences are beginning to grow tired of the ever-increasing monetisation of downloadable content, and Mass Effect 4 might just outstay its welcome if it proves to be guilty of this. Of course, we'd be more than happy to pay up for a couple of larger DLC packs that feature their own self-contained stories, similar to Bioware's sizeable expansion packs of old.
