Mass Effect 4: 10 Things That Will Kill The Franchise

6. Making It Too Alien

BiowareBiowareMass Effect 4 has been confirmed by Bioware to be a separate entity from the original trilogy, possibly taking place hundreds or thousands of years later. We're more than happy with that, and the franchise could certainly use a bit of a shake up. We'll be perfectly fine with unfamiliar new locations, along with brand new characters and races that weren't seen in the original games. However, it can go too far either way, and Bioware would be making a mistake if Mass Effect 4 becomes too alien compared to the games that preceded it. By that, we mean too few elements that connect the game with the trilogy that fans have played through for hundreds of hours. Sure, if Mass Effect 4 ends up taking place a hundred years or more after the third game, it's unlikely we'll see many of our favourite characters. In the unlikely event that we don't have a range of Asaris, Turians and Salarians to join us on our journey though, then Bioware might as well create a brand new IP.

Tom Butler hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
