Mass Effect 4 Andromeda: 10 Things We Need To See At E3 2016
8. Exploration
Exploration in the Mass Effect trilogy was prominent, but fairly limited in significant ways, especially once the Mako was dropped in the second game in favor of more linear and finely detailed levels. As the urgency of the plot continued to increase with each subsequent game, exploration mostly fell to the wayside.
One of the biggest reported differences between the original games and the upcoming Andromeda is the focus on exploration. Bioware has continually talked about how much current technological advancements have allowed them to focus on exploration to a much greater degree than they ever have before. This is hugely exciting for fans of the franchise, especially those who were attracted to it for this very reason. But so far its all been merely hype. Its time we got to see this exploration in action.
E3 is a great opportunity to give us just a taste of just what exploration entails. How much of a planet can you actually explore? How detailed are the environments? What kind of secrets or resources can you gather, and what role do your crew mates play? These questions serve to highlight how mysterious and hyped this aspect of Andromeda is, and showing off a tiny splice of it at E3 would do wonders to quench fans eagerness to know more before the game comes out.
