Mass Effect Andromeda: 10 New Gameplay Features That Will Change Everything
6. Overhauled Weapon Mechanics
In their latest gameplay trailer, BioWare released a whole host of new details about Andromeda’s weaponry. The team have been refining and perfecting Mass Effect’s firearms since the series’ second instalment, having worked closely with DICE on Mass Effect 3 in order to improve the weight and audio feedback of each weapon.
There are four main gun types in Andromeda: shotguns, sniper rifles, assault rifles, and pistols, which will encompass traditional hand cannons as well as SMGs. There won’t be any class restrictions on weapons either.
Whereas in previous games, more power-focused players were hamstrung somewhat when it came to choosing a loadout, they’ll now be able to enter battle with more than just a pistol or two.
These weapons are then broken down into three distinct categories: standard, projectile-based guns that use traditional ammo, fast-firing, beam-based weapons that overheat, and plasma-based weapons from the Helius cluster of Andromeda, which can be charged and released for higher damage.
