Mass Effect HD Trilogy Likely Part Of "EA HD" Announcement
Is it finally time?
With EA's 2020 financial year ending, they've dropped word of what's in store for the next 12 months, including rather tantalisingly, a game associated with the term "EA HD".
Whilst there are many other things to get excited about - your annual sports title, Medal of Honor returning in VR, developed by Titanfall/Jedi Fallen Order's Respawn Studios, the best thing to do right now, is freak the F out that Mass Effect could be coming back once more.
Now, the thing to remember is that Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3 are all backwards compatible on Xbox One already, meaning if this "EA HD" game IS that same trilogy, there'll have to be some substantial work done to justify its re-release.
Yes, Switch and PS4 owners will jump for joy, but if Mass Effect is the game of choice, chances are we'll be getting an "N7 Edition" replete with all DLC for all three games.
Failing this of course, there are still PLENTY of EA-owned franchises that could take the slot instead.
SSX, for example, hasn't been since its ill-fated 2021 reboot, Dead Space petered out after Dead Space 3 became Gears of War in space, and even Simpsons Hit & Run saw a resurgence in popularity after rumours came out of an HD remaster last E3.
Whatever it is, EA have been sitting on considerable amounts of IP money for quite some time, and Mass Effect deserves a return to the spotlight.
