The Context: Liquid dishes out some meaty plot details and subsequently enters Rex with his sights set on annihilating Solid Snake once and for all. It's also worth noting that this battle precedes the two Liquid Snake battles already mentioned, acting as the first fight in the final showdown. In addition to that, just as memorable as the fight itself is Gray Fox's motivational dialogue and heroic sacrifice. The Fight: Split into two phases, the strategy largely boils down to tossing around grenades to disrupt Rex's electrical interface while you continuously fire missiles at it. That is of course easier said than done as Rex will fire missiles of his own, shoot out lasers, and attempt to stomp Snake's face in. Learning how to dodge him takes some practice too, but above all else is hugely necessary as every attack packs a life-sapping punch. Despite the very high emotional story beats and intensity of the fight, it is the least memorable Metal Gear mech-fight simply because Rex is limited in mobility and suffers from repetitive patterns.
