Metroid Dread: 9 Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn’t Tell You
3. Don't Underestimate Your Basic Melee Attack And Air Dash
A pointer to change the very way you play Metroid games if you’re a veteran fan - or to keep in mind for newcomers - you want to stay airborne and air-dash as much as possible during boss fights.
Whilst you can hold A and then tap left or right to immediate evade, the existence of a hella-snappy air dash overhauls Samus’ capabilities in most encounters by default. Always remember you have an air dash that replenishes constantly - it’s not just something for specific puzzles.
Also, Samus’ melee counter from Samus Returns, can be used to stagger foes even when they’re not flashing for specific parries. Just hit X regardless of their animation and for the majority of foes, you’ll still interrupt their animation and free them up for a missile to the face.
