Metroid Prime 4 Wishlist: 10 Things Fans Demand

Dear Nintendo, please do all these things.

The Prime series has been held in high acclaim since its launch on the Gamecube, helping set new standards for FPS and action genres, alongside influencing countless other franchises like Prey and Dead Space, to name a few.

Large open levels, puzzles and levelling up Samus whilst piecing together a narrative, all taking place in an atmospheric and melancholic environment are staples of the Metroid franchise, but it's been a while since the last entry, and since then games, gaming and its players have moved on.

Put simply: We need some new toys and tricks to play with.

You only need to look at how far the medium has come to see the potential and possibilities on offer - as well as Nintendo's propensity for innovation - to set your mind racing about what new benchmarks for excellence could be set.

Obviously everyone has different ideas, hopes and wants, but hopefully these ideas will help develop the finished product without radically changing what was already so great to begin with.

With all that in mind, let's do our bit to help shape the greatest entry in the Prime series so far.

10. Start With All Your Equipment

Nintendo have been experimenting and developing this idea more frequently with some of their biggest franchises

Giving players access to all/most of a character's equipment and mechanics from the start of the game, means the game relies more heavily on the player's initiative to see them through the rest of the way.

At this point, most of us are familiar with the Metroid way of doing things. You start with the weakest equipment, but as you explore and beat bosses you unlock different weapons and tools to get you to locations inaccessible before.

So it's time for something new.

Giving players access to everything from the start in Nintendo's other franchises hasn't diminished the experience, far from it, with this new approach, the latest entries have received some of the highest critical acclaim to date.

So why would Metroid be any different?
