Mick Gordon LEAVES DOOM Over Soundtrack Meddling

What even is a Doom game without its music?

Doom Eternal
Bethesda

For the most part, the response to Doom: Eternal has been overwhelmingly positive. From the great critical reviews to it being the best-selling title in the franchise, on the outside everything seems to be going swimmingly. However, internally, it doesn't seem as though Eternal has pleased everyone who worked on it.

Mick Gordon, the person responsible for Doom 2016's and Eternal's thunderous, arguably iconic soundtracks, has claimed on social media that he won't be returning to oversee the music for the third game. In fact, the response seems to indicate that Gordon won't be working with developers Id Software or Bethesda in general again.

As elaborated on in other posts, the issue seems to be with the mixing of the soundtrack Gordon made. Allegedly, the mixing was taken off his hands by the marketing team and finished without his oversight, a move which no doubt caused immense frustration.

Expect something official to come soon, as maybe the two parties can work something out, but for now it seems clear there is some bad blood there, which could have a major impact on the inevitable Doom 3 (not that one).
