Microsoft Unveils Surface Tablet: Here's What You Need To Know
Here is a go-to-guide for everything Microsoft's, first ever, Surface tablet has to offer.
Technology innovations seem to be moving faster and faster with each year that passes. Without significant advancements in technology many companies would, and do, quickly flicker out of existence as their power fades away. Many people already own their iPhones and iPads, manipulating the app stores to find ways of increasing their productivity and entertainment values on-the-go.
This may leave many wondering, "What does Microsoft have to offer in tablet design as technology pushes forward?"
Well, Microsoft has answered this call by unveiling their brand new "Surface" tablet, and it may very well be packing a knockout punch to the tablet market.

The Surface tablet will be available in two different versions. First, there is the Surface Tablet for Windows RT that will ship with an NVIDIA Tegra-based ARM chip, Windows RT & Office Home and Student 2013, touch cover, type cover, and VaporMg Case and Stand. It will be available with either a 32 GB capacity, or 64 GB capacity. The Windows RT will also include USB 2.0 connectivity, micro SD, and Micro HD video.
The Surface Tablet for Windows 8 features an Intel Core i5 processor, Windows 8 Pro, Touch Cover, Type Cover, Pen and Palm Block, and Vapor Mg Case & Stand. The tablet will also be available with 64 GB capacity, or 128 GB. This offers up microSDXC, USB 3.0, Mini DisplayPort, 2x2 MIMO antennae connectivity as well.
Touch Cover
The biggest advancement that Microsoft's Surface tablet will offer is the inclusion of their magnetic touch cover. While this acts as your protective layering, sheltering your tablet from the dangers of your busy life, it also doubles as an impressive pressure sensitive keyboard.
Two types will be available, a basic 3mm Type Cover, and a thicker 5mm version that features moving keys for the traditionalist in you.
Customization won't be an issue. There will be multiple colors available for selection with your touch cover including bright pink, black, blue, and white. Surely, more will be available, however nothing has been announced.
Release Date & PricingMicrosoft has yet to reveal an official release date for their Surface tablet. However, they did note that the Surface for Windows RT will be the first to launch and expected to coincide with the launch of Windows 8. The best estimate is that Microsoft's tablet will be hitting sometime around October of this year, but this is all speculation. Once the Windows RT Surface launches, it will be followed by the Surface for Windows 8 Pro after 90 days of the RT's launch. A price point has yet to be revealed, but with a confirmation that the Surface Windows RT is going to be "competitive" with other market tablets, it seems safe to assume it will fall somewhere around $500. If you're planning on holding out for the Surface Windows 8 Pro, look to the pricing of "Ultrabook-class PC's". This is where Microsoft plans to push their Pro tablet in the market. While Microsoft hasn't unveiled official pricing and release information, it is certainly enough to be excited for.
