Monster Hunter World: Ranking Every Weapon From Worst To Best

4. Dual Blades

Odogaron Monster Hunter
Capcom

Pros: High damage combos, Demon and Archdemon Modes, dual elements

Cons: No block, shortest range, sharpness goes fast, high skill threshold

Combo chaining is the Dual Blades' bread and butter, able to churn out dozens of swipes and slashes in mere seconds, but they also demand a high degree of practice. Without understanding how each attack flows into the other - using the Great Jagras or other weak fodder as a test dummy is the best means of training - their damage will be mediocre at best.

Perseverance will be rewarded with an eye-watering damage output that's complemented further with the pair's Demon and Archdemon modes, but you won't be untouchable. Far from it.

With the shortest range of all weapon types and a total inability to block, anticipating what the wildlife of the New World is going to do before they do it is key to preserving your life, especially as, once locked into a combo, there's no way of cancelling the string of attacks into a dodge.

The textbook definition of a glass cannon.
