Monster Hunter World: Ranking Every Weapon From Worst To Best

13. Hunting Horn

Pros: Unrivalled team support, respectable damage, blunt damage equals easy staggers

Cons: Limited moveset, slow attack speed, less useful in solo play

Every RPG worth its salt offers a dedicated support role for those that prefer to bolster their opponent's strength rather than their own. The Hunting Horn, which can conjure all sorts of performance-boosting buffs through song, is Monster Hunter: World's version of that archetype, but its utility is betrayed by the weapon's remaining kit.

Due to the intricacies of the Horn's buff system, its offensive moveset is burdened with simplicity and a lack of variety which, while able to dish out a respectable amount of damage, can never hope to match the raw output of other heavy weapons. Blunt damage is a noteworthy plus, as it can crack the hard shells of Barroths and Nergigante with ease, but if that's the only boon you're looking for, the hammer is a much better pick for its monstrous damage output.

In fact, unless you really love the musical aspect and plan to play exclusively in co-op, then the Hunting Horn's closest relative will always be the superior option.
