Mortal Kombat: 10 Terrible Characters NetherRealm Want You To Forget

9. Ashrah

Oh hey, look - it's the female version of Raiden! Ashrah's début in MK came at the height of the series' seemingly 'more is better' mantra that NetherRealm (then Midway Games) followed like gospel. Having already provided an onslaught of ninja clones that looked and played almost identically to series stalwarts Scorpion and Sub-Zero in previous entries, the developer subsequently turned their focus to every other already-existing fighter in an effort to self-plagiarise them. So yeah, Ashrah's certainly not the only result of that, but she's the most obvious and derivative one. Aside from the utterly ridiculous hat, the very human-looking demon even had lightning-based abilities due to some nonsensical narrative device concerning a pair of kris daggers that granted her holy powers. Combined with some speed-based spinning attacks, Ashrah is essentially an amalgamation of Kung Lao and Raiden with no unique features to make her worth remembering.
