7. Reiko

'Shao Kahn, is that you?' 'No, it can't be - there's no helmet. Oh, those facial markings - why is Shang Tsung wearing Shao's outfit?' 'Nope, it ain't Shang Tsung either - who the hell is this guy?' His name's Reiko, and his origins are so convoluted that attempting to decipher them will feel remarkably similar to piecing together the events of a poorly-written Midsomer Murders episode. You see, there's a reason that Reiko looks like the bastard child of multiple different characters. Before becoming a joke that threw out misnomers in regards to his real identity, Reiko started life as the ever-popular Noob Saibot. Various changes then led to him being given a maroon-coloured ninja outfit and being renamed as Reiko. When that was deemed too generic, his look was changed for a final time into the one adorning this entry. So basically, Reiko's MK's version of Frankenstein's monster, the end result of what happens when a developer can't decide what the hell to do with an idea.
