Not the Mass Effect squadmate or the veteran Welsh centre half, but the blood soaked, chainsaw wielding protagonist of The Evil Dead. Bruce Campbell returned for both the sequels and the cult TV show, and you can tell this was his most beloved role in his career.
Given their previous penchant for horror movie classics, seeing someone like Ash lineup against Sub Zero or Johnny Cage should be par for the course. With his history, he’ll be no stranger to the ghoulish creatures or grisly fatalities that Mortal Kombat has to offer.
In X, those 4K kills were more extreme than ever. But Ash burying his chainsaw deep into Goro’s skull as chunks of viscera spray out? Or maybe just slicing an arm off for good measure? That could take it to a whole new level.
Unlike a few of the characters fans are hoping for, Ash isn’t all that topical. There’s nothing in the works to be promoted the way there is for some later entries. However, that cult association with horror is extremely lucrative, and fans have wanted Ash for years. Many will be sure to snap him up if he features.
