Mortal Kombat 11: 10 Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn't Tell You

It might have an immaculate tutorial, but there is WAY more to MK 11 you don't know.

As another Mortal Kombat has dropped in grand fashion (its launch trailer backed by THAT theme song from 1995, no less), gamers across the board are sinking their teeth into what should be the best instalment yet.

Sadly, at time of writing, MK 11 is being marred by some very Star Wars: Battlefront 2-style controversy, as a forced loot grind, timer-based unlocks and encouraged microtransaction spending get in the way of an otherwise phenomenally tight video game. I dissect all of this in my review over here, but sufficed to say, NetherRealm need to continually work on the game's progression systems, if we're going to get something that's genuinely enjoyable going forward.

For now though, let's focus on the positives, and the fact this is the best-playing MK yet.

NetherRealm have shaken up the core foundations by segmenting your offensive and defensive capabilities into two dual-segmented meters. This invites a more tactical edge, one where blocking and choosing to pull off a combo are more important than ever - all the while your Fatal Blow finisher only comes into play when you're on 30% or less health.

Combined, MK 11 is still a delight to play at its core, and if you can avoid the grind, there's plenty to love.
