Mortal Kombat 11: 8 New Gameplay Features You Need To Know

5. Repurposed X-Rays

The gorgeously gruesome X-ray specials introduced with MK9 and cranked up to 11 in MKX have undergone a serious change for this year's outing. No longer tied to having a full bar of super meter, the literal bone-breaking finishers have been integrated into real-time combat to serve as a visual representation for 'metered' special attacks.

In layman's terms, it means that whenever you expend a bar of special energy to add more clout to Sub-Zero's frosty repertoire or Scorps' gymnastics with a harpoon, the familiar fade-away of your opponent's skin to show the internal damage inflicted will play out as before, only more fluidly and without interrupting the action with non-interactive cinematics.

In a visual sense, they're just as brutal as before, as so eloquently proven by newcomer Gerus in the above snippet of gameplay.
