Mortal Kombat 11 Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

2. Paying To Win

Remember I mentioned Time Krystals not being in the build I played?

Yeah, they're going to make or break the progression after implementation at launch.

Because once you've bashed your head against an unwinnable bout multiple times in a row, the game loves to throw up the option for a "Skip Fight" token, right in your face. As far as I know, you can't actually buy Skip Fight tokens with real money, but you can bypass the entire grind by purchasing Time Krystals.

It's worth noting that Time Krystals are earned every few fights in-game too, but the option is right there - "Just give us some coin, and all this will go away".

NetherRealm have created a scenario where you're paying your way out of horrific game design, and that is very unsavoury and disappointing to see.
