Mortal Kombat 11: Series Outkasts That Need To Return
Posers and fairweather fans beware: we're going deep into the realms for these series outkasts.
Mortal Kombat is a series that has been around for a long time. It survived the shift from 2D to 3D, ushered in the ESRB ratings system, and bounced back from several mediocre instalments. To put it mildly, it's an incredibly storied franchise that has stood the test of time.
Therefore it should come as no surprise to newer MK fans that the series has undergone quite a few changes over the years. While the current iteration of the game closely resembles the original, albeit massively evolved, the series hasn't shied away from changing up the formula. There has been 3D versions, RPG versions, and even a beat-em-up version! With those myriad instalments and almost two decades worth of content, it's only natural that there have been a number of cool characters who have since disappeared down The Pit.
There are more than a dozen great Mortal Kombat characters that have been left by the wayside as the series has changed and evolved. Today we want to walk back through the realms to pull out some of the more obscure ones who deserve a second lease on life - or at least an opportunity to be brutally murdered once again.
10. Fujin
Fujin may have been something of a fringe character in Mortal Kombat in recent years but we think it's high time this character returns with all-new wind abilities.
Fujin has been around since 1997's Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, but hasn't been a playable character since Armageddon in 2006. Fujin's long white hair might define his look, although a makeover wouldn't be the worst thing. He was last spotted in Mortal Kombat X, fighting alongside Raiden with his awesome wind attacks.
Speaking of which, elemental attacks are a technique the series currently lacks. In previous games, Fujin has used his wind ability to levitate enemies, create tornadoes, and even keep himself in the air. Of course there's plenty of room for creative new ideas in regards to his wind attacks, and we'd be excited for what NetherRealm could conjure up.
Fujin also utilises lots of knee strikes and even has a crossbow, so he's not exactly short on ways to kill his foes. As if that wasn't enticing enough, Fujin's Fatality in Mortal Kombat 4 saw him blast an enemy with extreme wind until their skin blew off! Think of the fun that could be had in MK11.
