Reiko is a Mortal Kombat 4 character whose most noteworthy moment came from his arcade ending. As he stepped through a portal, he sat on a throne, wearing Shao Kahn's helmet. Because of this, there was numerous theories about the character.

Was the dead Kahn possessing him? Was he Shao Kahn himself, changing his identity to serve Shinnok?

Ultimately, Reiko was revealed to have been the former emperor's general in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. This connection with Kahn serves as Reiko's most interesting aspect. Sharing an appearance as well as weapons similar to his former emperor, Reiko has also made attempts to rule Outworld himself.

Most recently, Reiko appeared in the Mortal Kombat X comic where he and Mileena initiated an Outworld Civil War against Kotal Kahn. The comic has characterized Reiko as a cunning chessmaster, able to predict decisions as well as employ precise tactics. He served as one of the comic's villains until it was revealed that he was a pawn by the Cleric of Chaos himself, Havik.

Unfortunately for Reiko, this led to his demise in the new timeline. But with the creation of a rewritten timeline at the end of Mortal Kombat 11, this Shao Kahn wannabe can return once again.
