1. Movie Opens In Feudal Japan - Is Cole Descended From Scorpion?

Revealed at the start of the year, Simon McQuoid gushed about a 10 minute scene that opens the new movie, but is set in Feudal Japan.

Fascinatingly, this opens up a TON of questions. Namely, how do the ages of Scorpion and Sub-Zero stay relatively consistent for almost 1000 years?

The pair have long been quasi-"immortal" in the fiction (Sub-Zero has long been the wraith known as Noob Saibot for years now), but this ties directly into another scene:

Cole looking in the mirror, and seeing Scorpion.

Could one of the movie's biggest twists/reveals be that Cole is a direct descendant of Scorpion, alongside being the latest reincarnation of The Great Kung Lao?

There's certainly a lot of canon to play with, and you have to wonder: Would this be enough for longtime fans to finally "accept" an otherwise out-of-nowhere character?
