Mortal Kombat Movie: Where Are They Now?

1. Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa - Shang Tsung

Mortal Kombat
New Line Cinema

Car-Hiroyuki Tagawa is the quintessential Shang Tsung for most fans.

He portrays the sorcerer so definitively that he was recently brought back to voice the character in Mortal Kombat 11. Although the role will gain a new soul via Chin Han, any time fans of Mortal Kombat see Tagawa on screen, the Mortal Kombat villain comes to mind.

After Mortal Kombat, we've seen Tagawa appear in a variety of roles in diverse genres. It was odd for young fans to see "Shang Tsung" pop up in kid-friendly pieces like Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Johnny Tsunami.

Through the years, Tagawa has appeared in blockbusters like Pearl Harbor and bombs like Elektra. Balls of Fury, Planet of the Apes, and 47 Ronin are also on his CV. On the TV side, he's had roles in The Man in the High Castle, Heroes, Revenge, Hawaii, and Lost in Space.

Listen closely and you'll hear his voice in a few other fandoms. Star Wars Rebels, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, World of Warcraft: Legion, Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo, and Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu feature his hypnotic voice. Here's hoping we get at least one more run of him as Shang Tsung in another MK game.
