5. The "Cut To Gameplay" And Video Game Cinematography
Okay, here is where things go thermo-nuclear brilliant.
Upon crashing out the window and standing back up, we see both aspect ratio bars move off the screen, as the movie changes into representing "gameplay".
Best of all is cinematography, filmed either with a drone or perhaps director Allan Ungar himself following Fillion through the garden as he aims, fires and moves between cover.
Zooms as though the "player" was pushing a button, pans to "lean" around corners - it's such a great way to show how Hollywood can tip the nod to games, walking the line between the events on screen being "controlled" and acted at the same time.
The whole sequence is done in one take, effortlessly translating what we could call "video game cinematography" into a movie.
