NBA 2K20 Review: 5 Ups & 4 Downs

Ups...

5. Standing For Something

NBA 2K20 MyCAREER
2K Games

The execution might be flawed, but kudos to Visual Concepts, 2K, and SpringHill Entertainment for this year's MyCAREER approach.

Much of the narrative works because of its relevance. Che's path to stardom is paved with obstacles. A rocky road to the NBA sees him branded selfish and unreliable by those around him, attracting unwanted controversy.

As a result, Che is faced with finding balance and coming to terms with what really matters in his life, exploring similar topics to those that led to Colin Kaepernick being blackballed from the NFL along the way. We just wish its full promise was paid off.

The inclusion of WNBA teams also feels like an important, progressive move. Said teams have been in NBA Live for a while already, but 2K20's execution is close to flawless, with the women recreated as well as their male counterparts.

So too is the difference in playing styles, with WNBA games slower and more methodical than NBA clashes, but no less interesting.
